Traditional Mardi Gras King Cake
Our New Orleans style coffeecake is made with soft sweet dough and filled with our rich cinnamon filing yummy cream cheese filling or almond kringle filling. Our king cakes are iced and dressed up for the traditional mardi gras season and come complete with beads, the baby king doll and the legendary story booklet. The original Mardi Gras trinity of colors symbolize power, justice and faith the virtues of the three kings that visited the baby Jesus with gifts.
Our King Cake is known as the King Cake that Gives because in the spirit of gift giving the sales of our king cakes are tithed to fundraising for disaster relief. This was first inspired in 2005 in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In the last 10 years we have raised well over $22,000 which we have contributed to the efforts for recovery from Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters. We have given money to United Way, Rebuilt East Mississippi, to specific projects in Meridian Mississippi, the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund and our local chapter of the Red Cross here in the Denver Metro Area. The recovery from Katrina is now complete but the spirit of giving it has inspired will live on for time to come in our fundraiser "King Cakes for a Cause".
